S.S. Stewart “Special Thoroughbred”, No. 3, 5-string banjo, S/N 70868, Circa 1900
This banjo was made about the same time as Stewart signed his deal to make Acme Professional banjos for Sears Roebuck & Co., and the peghead inlay and heel carving are very similar to one of the Acme Professional "University Glee" banjos in my collection made at about the same time.
