Luscomb grade 4, 5-string banjo, S/N 1439, Circa 1895

Luscomb banjos were made by the Thompson & Odell Company in Boston.  This was one of their higher grade banjos with the usual Luscomb peghead shape (in contrast to my Luscomb grade 3).  It also has very nice saw-cut pearl inlays, a nicely carved heel, and an exquisitely engraved rim.  The tuners, tailpiece, and hooks and nuts on this example are not original.
