A. C. Fairbanks (Stetson?) 5-string banjo, no S/N, Circa 1894
Although marked only A.C. Fairbanks, this nice banjo may have been made by Fairbanks for sale as a J.F. Stetson banjo, a brand name of J.W. Dyer and Brother of Minnesota. The peghead shape is similar to others that Fairbanks made to be sold as Stetsons at the time, but unlike other banjos made by Fairbanks to be sold under the Stetson name, the rim is spunover only on the outside. It also may have simply been a special order banjo.
