Joseph Rickett 5-string banjo.  S/N 6827, Circa 1890’s

Joseph Rickett was a Philadelphia maker who marketed banjos in competition with his fellow Philly maker S.S. Stewart.  Rickett made high quality instruments, and this nice short-scale banjo is no exception.  This instrument has a metal heel-cap engraved with "L. Leaf", presumably the individual for whom the banjo was made.
