S.S. Stewart fretless presentation banjo, S/N 2073, Circa 1866

This is the earliest Stewart presentation quality banjo I have seen, and it is a remarkable instrument. Extra laminations, a wild and unusual inlay pattern, early heel carving with a metal heel cap, a marquetry butterfly on the back of the peghead, ivory pegs, and a carved dowel stick. And it's a good player, too!
